Are there antibiotics in milk?

All milk – both regular and organic – is tested for antibiotics . Any tanker that tests positive is disposed of immediately.

Can milk be replaced by soya milk ?

Absolutely not. First of all, the name “soya milk” is false ; milk can only have one source, which is animal. It is more appropriate to talk about soya water. Regulations are at present being prepared to rename it correctly. On the other hand, this soya water cannot be a substitute for milk since it does not contain the same nutrients and cannot cover as many as the organism’s needs as milk can. Are milk and milk products in Singapore safe?

Milk and milk products sold in Singapore are safe for consumption. AVA has suspended the import and sale of all milk and milk products from China since 19 September 2008. Retailers and importers have been instructed to recall these products and these products will be withheld from sale. Local food manufacturers have also been instructed to cease the use of milk and milk products from China as ingredients. Consignments which have newly arrived or are on the way will also be withheld from sale.

Is Goat Milk as good as cow milk?

The milk from a goat is equally as good and superior in some ways particularly for infants and the elderly. The fat globules are much smaller than those in cow’s milk and are more readily digested. Goat’s milk does not have a cream line like cow’s milk as it is naturally homogenised.

What is the difference between full cream milk, skim milk and lite milk?

The differences lie in the fat content.Harvey Fresh Full cream milk (or whole milk) contains 3.6% milkfat and is suitable for both adults and children. It is also widely used in cooking or baking. For those who are conscious of their fat intake, Harvey Fresh skim milk is suitable as this contains almost 0% fat. For those who are diet conscious but would like something creamier than skim milk, Harvey Fresh Lite Milk would be suitable as it contains only 1.8% fat.

IS NONFAT MILK THE SAME AS SKIM MILK? IS SKIM MILK A FUNKY FOOD?

Nonfat milk is the same as skim milk. It may also be called fat free. It is not a funky food, but it is considered a carbo and should only be used with carbos.

What is 'homogenized' milk?

Homogenized milk has gone through the homogenization process. Homogenization breaks up and disperses the fat, or cream, evenly throughout the milk, making the consistency uniform. Nothing is added to the milk during this process.
Homogenized milk is milk that has a fat content of 3.25%. Through a mechanical in-plant treatment called homogenization, the globules of milk fat are broken down into smaller globules and evenly dispersed in the milk.

What is lactose free milk?

Organic Valley's lactose free milk is delicious and nutritious organic milk with the natural enzyme lactase added. Lactase breaks down the milk-sugar lactose into the more easily digestible sugars galactose and glucose. The lactase we add is similar to the lactase created by the body during normal digestion of dairy products. After the lactose is broken down to galactose and glucose, the milk has a slightly sweeter flavor profile.

What is 'ultra-pasteurized' milk?

Ultra-pasteurized milk (UHT) has been flash-heated with steam to 280°F and then vacuum chilled rapidly back down to 38°F. This temperature variation kills more microorganisms than regular pasteurization. The result is milk with a longer shelf life.

What is UHT milk?

UHT means Ultra High Temperature pasteurization: milk is heated to 135 - 150 degrees Celsius for a fraction of a second. No, it is not legal to sell raw milk in most states. We use the lowest temperature (VAT) process allowed with pasteurization laws to bring the closest to farm fresh milk as possible.

Why is there a grayish look to milk?
