Where is the Ministry of Rum located?
Most of the research takes place at the distilleries where the spirits are born, but I also do a lot of sampling and thinking on board my sloop Triton. In 1995 I went online and use telephone facilities throughout the islands to communicate with numerous distilleries, importers and rum lovers around the world. I also maintain a PO Box and office in Culebra, Puerto Rico.

How do you drink rum?
It depends on the rum or rhum. I love a 'ti punch as the first drink of the day. After dinner I usually switch to an aged rum that I drink with a little water or sometimes a cube of ice, if I have one. I find that most rums benefit by the addition of a little water. If I add ice, I let it melt a little before I drink the rum. But I rarely drink the same rum three days in a row. Variety is the spice of life.

What are the ingredients in your Rum Cakes?
Our cakes are made from a guarded, family recipe! Unlike many imitators of the Calypso Rum Cake, we do not put NUTS or FRUIT in our cakes. We list these basic ingredients so that people with food allergies may check to see if they can consume our product. However, here is a list of everything that is in them: Eggs, water, vegetable oil, Barbados rum, sugar, enriched wheat flour bleached (flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine, mononitrate, riboflavin), vegetable shortening (soybean and/or cottonseed oil) partially hydrogenated, non fat milk solids, leavening ...

What is the particularity of the Saint Aubin Agricultural Rum?
The
Saint Aubin Agricultural Rum is the first agricultural rum produced and sold in Mauritius. It is distilled in a potstill, an apparatus made of a reservoir and a small column supplied with coils where the vapor is introduced. The Potstill is equipped with an integral device permitting the real time interpretation of the recorded parameters. Intervention on these parameters is permitted at anytime. In this process, it becomes evident that the control of the Potstill is a key element in the production of quality rum.

I only drink rum and Coke. What's the best rum for me?
Whatever you like, but remember that Coke will dominate the flavor of most rums. I've seen people drinking ten year old rum with Coca-Cola, and heard the bartender apologize for his patron. Personally I think this a waste of good rum, but to each his own.

The primary secret is God’s mercy and blessing. The instruments He uses, however, are the campus ministers. RUM does not use just anyone in a campus position. All the campus ministers are ordained teaching elders. They come with a Masters of Divinity degree from a seminary, and are committed to Christ, the scripture, and the Westminster Standards. In addition, they are carefully trained before they are placed on campus, and they receive regular on-going training. ...

Where is the best place to buy coffee and rum to take home?
Buy your coffee when you go into town. You should not pay more than $13 to $14 dollars per pound. Make sure the coffee has the "Coffee Board Seal of Approval" identifying it as Authentic Blue Mountain Coffee. Keep your coffee receipt if you buy ground coffee because the bag is a hard brick- shaped package. Buy your rum at the airport as the prices are very competitive and most of the times better than what you get in town, plus they’ll pack it up for you in a carry-on box. ...

Are there any NUTS or FRUIT in your rum cakes?
We realize there are many people that have allergies to nuts or that do not like certain varieties of nuts, so we have not added them to our cakes, unlike some other rum cake bakers. These cakes do not contain fruit either, many people know rum cakes as traditional fruit cakes. Why do you call yourselves the "Rum & Kidney Men"?
We were trying to choose a name for our band when we came across the term "rum and kidney men" in the 2003 edition of the "Forgotten English" calendar, compiled by Jeffrey Kacirk. The definition was something like "musicians who play at feasts, fairs, and weddings, and subsist on the remnants and remains of victuals. " This seemed like a good name for a band, and especially appropriate inasmuch as we've been known to play for food and beer in the past. ...

The RUM installation program sets the default permissions of the application to ensure that only Helpers designated by an administrator can make changes. The system uses a combination of NTFS file permissions, IIS authentication methods, and IIS access rights. You shouldn't need to change these permissions from the defaults. See the Security Considerations page for more information.
