How are the arms attached on Gloster's woven dining chairs?

The integration of the teak arms is a key feature on many of Gloster's woven dining chairs. At the front, the arms are secured to the frame using 6mm machine screws which attach through the side of the arms and into captive threaded inserts that have been welded into the frame. This ensures a metal-to-metal joint which is far stronger than simply screwing through the wood and into the frame. ...

CHAIR FABRICS - What fabrics may be used on the seats of the dining chairs?

We stock many fabrics which are shown in the fabric options section on the product pages. Size of repeat and fabric content are also listed. Many of our customers supply their own fabric which we apply to the seats. This is referred to as COM or Customers's Own Material. Plain yardage required is generally 1/2 yard per seat.

Can I get my dining chairs with leather seats instead of upholstery?

Many of our artisans have different leather and upholstery options available for their work. Please contact a sales representative for more information.

Are resident dining room chairs allowed to have casters or rollers?

Your copy of “Rules for Adult Care Homes” may state in 13F.0306(d)(2): “…chairs that are sturdy, non-folding, without rollers, and designed to minimize tilting.” However, this rule has been revised effective July 1, 2005. The updated rule, as of July 1, 2005, states: 13F.0306(d)(2): “…chairs that are sturdy, without rollers unless retractable or on front legs only, non-folding, and designed to minimize tilting.” [emphasis added]

Do you also offer outdoor dining tables and chairs?

Not in our Classic range; at present the focus is on Adirondack-style products only, i.e. outdoor leisure furniture. For our Executive range we will in future offer a selection of dining products.

Do the dining room chairs and table sell as one lot?

It depends. If a table and chairs are a matched set, they will sell together. If the chairs are unmatched to the table, the table will sell separately and the chairs will be sold "times the money".

Can kitchen or dining room chairs be re-glued?

Yes. Any wood framed furniture finished or upholstered can be re-glued. In order to make it last we re-drill the doweling, remove the old glue, re-glue it then clamp it back together and allow it to dry thoroughly. Then the legs are re-leveled and nylon glides are put on the bottom of the legs to reduce friction on carpet, wood and tile floors.

If I fit Slipstick feet to my dining chairs, will I have to lift the chair to move it ?

No, as the smaller sized Slipstick feet are designed to Slide Freely utilizing a firm rubber and will reduce marking and scuffing of clean floor surfaces.

How can I have my wing chair or dining room chairs re-upholstered?

We are able to have your items professionally re-upholstered at wholesale pricing. You send us the fabric of your choice, and we arrange upholstery to meet your needs. Then your item is shipped to you, ready for your home to match your décor

Yes. Please call us to see how many yards would be needed and we will let you send your fabric to us.

Q We manufacture tie-on seat pads for dining chairs - what are the flam requirements?

A Where the pads are supplied separately from the dining chairs, ie the pads are for chairs that the customer already owns or for chairs supplied by another manufacturer, then the requirements are the same as for scatter cushions. This means the Regulations only apply to the filling materials; the Regulations do not apply to the decorative covers. Each seat pad must have a permanent label.

I am short and my husband is tall, will both of us be comfortable in your rocking chairs and dining chairs?

You can use Little Beetle baby chair on most chairs, as long as the back of the seat is not wider than 50cm. You can also use Little Beetle baby chair on high back chairs by adjusting the strap to the lowest loop on the side of the chair and using a pillow to lift your baby. I tried re-glueing my dining chairs myself but after a few months the joints were loose again. Can you do better?

Yes! The only way to ensure a joint stays tight is to make sure the old glue is completely removed and then to clamp the repair properly. Wood glue works not by forming an adhesive layer but by being forced into the fibres of the wood.

QUESTION: How do I care for paper fibre rush seats on my dining room chairs?

Since these are made from the same paper fibre material that was used in a great deal of wicker furniture manufactured after 1904, the cleaning treatments are the same for both paper wicker and paper rush. Vacuum frequently, use a damp cloth to clean stubborn dirt, and a slightly wet toothbrush to get into tight corners. Do not hose down or immerse in water, but instead, use a warm wet cloth to wipe up spills as soon as they occur. ...
