Where do the lyrics for "Hamburger Lady" come from?
The lyrics are taken from the letter that is in the sleeve on the CD release of 'D.o.A' (I don't know if it's included at the LP). A funny bypass to the letter is that there is a true life story about W.S.B where a burned lady plays a role. I think it is included in the book, 'RE/search #4/5: The history of cut-up' which includes W.S.B, Gysin and TG. answered by Mattias Hanson.

Although strictly speaking, they're sandwiches, we think hamburgers and hot dogs are in a category by themselves so we are excluding hamburger and hot dog recipes from the contest. However, it you have a terrific hot sausage sandwich recipe (anything but a frankfurter), we'd love to see it.

Why is thorough cooking so important for ground meat products such as hamburger?
Within the muscle there is no bacterial contamination. When the muscles are cut into steaks and roasts, the bacterial contamination will only occur on the cut outside of the meat. Cooking these meats rare to medium will create enough heat to kill off these bacteria. In ground meat, however, the surface where bacterial contamination occurs is spread throughout the product in the grinding process. The only way to be sure to eliminate the bacteria is to cook the hamburgers thoroughly.

Beef needs to be heated up to at least 155 degrees F in the THICKEST part. Chicken must be cooked up to 165 in the thickest part and fish to 145. (The chicken leg coming off is not a very good way to tell if the chicken has been cooked hot enough. )

Why is The $100 Hamburger a Subscriber Only website?
It is amazingly expensive to collect, edit and host the information we provide. For over a decade we operated as an open site. Advertising, logoed merchandise and membership sales did not bring in enough revenue to support the site. We noticed that the vast majority of PIREPs came from our members. We studied the transition to Subscriber Only for three years and tried every method known to us to increase advertising, merchandise and membership sales. None worked. Hits and site visitors soared but income remained steady. ...
