Is an enuresis alarm the only way to correct bedwetting?
No, it is not the only method for treating enuresis. Using an enuresis alarm along with helper treatments such as medication and diet is the fastest way to get dry. Parents may choose other methods that suit their individual family’s situation, such as medication only, alarm only or any combination of the various treatment methods. However, research has shown while these alternate choices work, they are so slow they are not practical. But it is beneficial for families to have the option to choose the right plan for them.

Why do I have to get DCFS consent to treat a medical condition such as enuresis?
Enuresis is conceptualized as a disorder of maturation that is accompanied by psychopathology at higher rates than in the population at large. Up to 30% of children with enuresis have a co-morbid psychiatric condition. Additionally, treatment of children with a psychiatric disorder with certain psychotropic medications may be associated with secondary enuresis. Finally, enuresis is often treated with psychotropic medications, such as imipramine, that can worsen symptoms of a co-morbid psychiatric disorder.

¿Es el uso de medicamentos o atomizadores nasales efectivo en el tratamiento de la enuresis?
Los medicamentos y los atomizadores nasales son medios artificiales de elevar el sueño y/o disminuir la producción de orina. Cuando se suspenden los medicamentos el enurético recae. Aunque los atomizadores nasales se usan con frecuencia rara vez son efectivos. Tampoco deben se deben de utilizar por un periodo prolongado ya que no existen investigaciones de sus efectos secundarios. Evidentemente nosotros curamos el problema de la enuresis sin el uso de medicinas ni atomizadores.
