At what age will I stop getting zits?
While acne used to be considered primarily a teen phenomenon, dermatologists report that the number of adults with pimples is on the rise, with at least one in ten adults aged 25 to 44 suffering from acne. The incidence is higher for adult women than for adult men, with estimates as high as 25%. Regardless of age, the causes of acne are the same. Stress and hormonal imbalances, which often lead to pimples, are becoming more common in women's lives.

Will these products give me breasts, zits, or a cue ball head?
The issue of side effects has to be addressed in a straightforward manner. The issue of gynecomastia, or bitch tits, is one that is related to increases in serum estrogen. Luckily, the diol prohormones do NOT elevate estrogens significantly (unlike androstenedione), and therefore the risk of gyno is quite low. Pimples are not a common side effect, although some people report a slight increase of acne on the back or shoulders that is usually light and transient. ...

I have zits. I can't get rid of them. Do you know what method I can use to get rid of them in under a month?
Dr Goodlove replies,
Yes there is some things that can help with zits. Not always within a month though. The first thing you need to do is to see a doctor. You could try your family doctor or the 198 Youth Health Centre at 198 Hereford Street. They can prescribe a number of things that could help. If you have a family history of acne or the first things a doctor suggests don’t work, sometimes you may need to see a skin specialist. Get onto it, there are some thing you can do about zits.

I have sensitive skin - will Knotty Boy wax make my skin break out in zits or an allergic reaction?
There are no chemicals or perfumes in the wax. All ingredients are totally non-allergenic and natural. Although, the Kukui is classified as a nut. But like Coconut, there are very few, if any, documented cases of allergic reactions to this nut. Having said this, it is always good to exercise extreme caution if you have severe nut allergies and discuss usage of this product with your doctor. Please see http://www.knottyboy.com/learn/ingredients.php for more information on the health benefits of Kukui Nut Oil. ...

I’m on Accutane and I’m happy with the results, but I still have zits, can I use retin-A cream or another one ?
No, don’t use any acne cream during the course, your skin is already dry so don’t put more strain on it. Be patient with your acne, it takes time for Accutane to heal it.

It’s been a week that I’m on accutane and my skin is still oily and I still have lots of zits, Am I resistant to accutane?
Although some start to see improvements after 2-3 days, most of the time it takes from 15 days to a month before starting to see significant changes. So be patient, and if after a month you don’t see any improvement ask your derm if it would be better to up the dosage (but do not do it by yourself).

I’m taking accutane and although in the first time my skin improved I’m breaking out pretty badly, can I take tetracycline to help with the zits?
You should not take tetracycline while on accutane, it causes intracranial hypertension thus tetracycline are to be avoided during treatment, be patient the breakout don’t last too long and if it really bothers you ask your derm if you can do something about it?

I’m taking Accutane, and I’m happy with the results but I still have those embarrassing red marks from zits, what can I do ? I also still have scars, can I do laser treatment to get rid of them?
Accutane will get you rid of the red marks, your scars (depending on how profound they are) will disappear or become less visible. But don’t start any peeling/laser treatment while on Accutane. Wait at least 6 months after the end of your course before any laser/peeling treatment. You skin is still fragile so be patient.
