The Family Planning Program is a federally funded program which allows you to receive contraceptive supplies. The need for GYN appointments is reserved for annual medical exam, including a gynecologic exam (a pelvic exam) and PAP smear, which is a requirement of The Family Planning Program . "Female concerns" including vaginal discharges and irritations in the anatomy covered by underwear, can be addressed in a Medical Appointment despite them being of a gynecological nature.

Will general gynecology services be available?
In general, SRM will be devoted to the care of women of childbearing age with infertility or other reproductive endocrine problems. We suggest that routine gynecologic and preventive care be accessed through your general gynecologist or primary care provider. For patients without a primary care provider who are seeking reproductive endocrinology or infertility services at SRM, we can provide basic preventive and primary gynecologic care.

The first time Dr. Kells laid his eyes on a Boojum tree , he fell in love. He likes the character that each tree displays and that it flourishes in the harsh desert environment. The Student Health Plan does not generally cover preventive services; however, many preventive services, including yearly gynecology exams and recommended adult immunizations are offered through the UHS clinic at no cost to students. All the clinicians working at the Student Health Service have extensive experience in women’s health. Drs. Bernitz and Mele are family physicians; Dr. Wheat is a general internist; Mark Van Alstyne, PA has had a great deal of experience in women’s health. We also have an obstetrican-gynecologist, Dr. Silvana Ribaudo, who is available ½ day a week for referrals and routine exams.

How long does it take to get an appointment at Boyd Obstetrics and Gynecology?
If you are a new patient to our office or a current patient calling in to schedule an annual exam, the wait is about 4 weeks. If you are a New OB patient we can get you scheduled in about 2 weeks. If you have an immediate need, we try to schedule you in as soon as possible.
