A parent or guardian must accompany the child and remain for the entirety of the study. We have rooms specially fitted with 2 beds so that the caregiver can sleep with the child.

What is the medicine used during sleep dentistry?

The medicine is called Triazolam. It is a small blue pill taken about 1 hour before your visit. This tablet has been prescribed over 10 million times per year, by physicians, for patient’s use at home. The drug has almost no side effects or interaction with other medicines you may currently be taking.

How do I know if I need to be evaluated at Texas Sleep Medicine?

Speaking about your symptoms with your Primary Care Physician or Internist should be helpful and they can then refer you to the Sleep Center. Some of the common symptoms people with sleep disorders describe are daytime sleepiness, fatigue, snoring, waking up gasping for air, breathing difficulties while asleep, shortness of breath at night, insomnia, or nighttime leg restlessness. Such symptoms may indicate the need to see a sleep specialist. You can also contact the sleep center for more education.

How is payment made for treatment services to the Center for Sleep Medicine & Nightmare Treatment?

All payments are the responsibility of the patient receiving services, and all fees for treatment services must be paid at or before the date of service. If a credit card is used, then payment can be made on the day of the consultation at the completion of the appointment. If a check or money order is the method of payment, it must be received by the Center prior to the date of the consultation.

The AADSM is a non-profit professional membership organization. We teach dentists and physicians how to use oral appliance therapy to treat sleep disordered breathing. However, we do not work directly with patients in relation to their insurance companies. You must work with your AADSM trained dentist, physician and insurance carrier.

Typically your primary care physician or provider will refer you to our specialty office directly for a consultation appointment with one of our specialists. Our office will then mail you a packet in the mail, including a sleep questionnaire, information on our providers and directions to the office. Complete the sleep questionnaire and mail it back to our office. Once we receive it we will contact you to set up an hour-long consultation with a specialist.
