Is it surgery?
While the procedures are done in a sterile environment similar to a surgical suite, all procedures performed at SpineCare Northwest are considered minimally invasive (or completely non-invasive! ) procedures. That is, small incisions are made in the skin for the sake of advancing long, thin instruments to the site of interest. In fact, the incisions are so small that stitches are not required, band aids are enough to treat the incision site.

Why surgery?

Is this cosmetic surgery?
It is definitely not. Obesity is a potentially severe and in fact life threatening disease and this procedure is a treatment of this disease. In Australia it is recognised as such by your health funds and by Medicare. Medicare has allocated Item No. 30511 as being the one to use. If your health fund needs to know what procedure you are contemplating, please use this number as part of the description of the procedure.

Is the surgery safe?
